Why am I getting the “Security Alert” pop-up
when I visit the website? Is it safe for me to proceed?
-
For increased security, the KJSCE Alumni website uses a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
certificate. Since the website is co-hosted at a hosting service provider, a
shared SSL certificate is used. If the warning on the Security Alert suggests that the name
of the security certificate is invalid, or does not match the name of the site,
it is safe to accept the certificate, and proceed. You can avoid getting the
“Security Alert” pop-up every time by clicking on the “View Certificate” button
from the “Security Alert” pop-up window, and choosing the “Install Certificate”
button. Follow the prompts to store the certificate in your browser’s SSL
Certificate library.

What are Bulletin Boards?
-
A Bulletin Board (or BB) is a platform that allows us to have multiple categories of
discussions. At our website, we currently have two BBs:
1) Discussion Forums and
2) Class Notes.
Note: Discussion Forums and Class Notes are available to all registered
members at the website. No further registration is necessary.
Snapshots of Discussion Forums and Class Notes BB are posted at the
"Photos" page. Please click here
to view the Photos. You do not have to be registered at the website to view Photos.
Each BB has multiple "Categories". Categories are simply containers
that we use to organize our different subjects of discussions, called
"Forums". Each Category may have one or more Forums.
To summarize:
- Bulletin Board or BB (e.g. Discussion Forums) consists of several Categories
- Categories (e.g. Career Opportunities) - each of which consist of one or more Forums
- Forums (e.g. Opportunities in India) - each of which will have several Posts.
This is similar to a Yahoo Group
- Posts - messages/responses posted to that Forum
All registered members at the website have read/write access to all the forums.
No further registration is necessary.

Why are Discussion Boards/Class Notes useful?
-
Today we have over a hundred KJSCE related individual Yahoo groups, which results
in KJSCE Alumni losing contact with other Alumni not in their "group". Some Yahoo
groups are based on class/batch, while others are generic and the only thing
common to all it's members is that they are all KJSCE Alumni.
The Bulletin Boards at the website allow us to discuss matters of common
interest with those that share our interest. It ensures that only messages of
interest to us reach our mailboxes. In addition, we continue to maintain access
to ALL KJSCE Alumni registered at the website.
Share your views only with those who have the same interests, reduce unwanted
e-mails to your mailbox AND still keep in touch with all your Alumni friends!

Why can I not contribute funds directly to this site?
-
In order to accept any financial contributions, we will need to formally
register as a non-profit organization. This registration process involves
a considerable investment of time and resources, to ensure that the legal
requirements are fulfilled. Till such time that those legal formalities
are fulfilled, we will be unable to accept any funds directly. We are however,
committed to working with you, and providing all possible logistical support, to
ensure that your funds are directly received by the beneficiaries for who they are
intended. This service will of course be free, and will be our "Thank You" to you,
for your interest and assistance in implementing the project(s) of your choice.
